Thank you so much Diane and Landon for sharing your vulnerability and taking us on this very real journey with you, of healing while falling in love (backwards). It is wonderful how well your styles blend and complement one another - great job of co-writing, and so much fun to have both masculine and feminine perspectives, which are so unique in their expression. The book arrived in my mailbox today from amazon - I started reading, laughed, cried and couldn't put it down until the end!You so eloquently described the journey of growing into an awakened relationship. So many turning points well illustrated. Anyone in relationship process could use insights in this book as a guide to deepening, healing, taking self-responsibility and holding the space for love to emerge and deepen both for self and one another.
I lived for 16 years in a small Colorado mountain town, that had a community so connected it was like being part of a big family. As "part of such a family" we are so transparent to one another. I'm happy to say, Landon was among this group of friends for many years, which makes the story that much more touching. I remember asking one of our mutual friends a while back what was up with Landon. He said, "Oh, he's fallen in love with a woman out in Grass Valley who has an apple orchard; and there's even a lake nearby where he can row."
Knowing Landon had gone through a number of relationships I wondered what would come of this one. Landon I just want to thank you so much for being so transparent and sharing your shadow struggles with us (as my long time friend who is a Mankind Project facilitator calls them). Your sharing can give other men the courage to face their shadows, which of course we all need to do. I think your portrayal shows some of the differences of how men and women access these things. AND as I have experienced myself, shedding light on our own pain to clear it, and taking responsibility for what occurs in our world is deep new territory, and so powerful to transform how we live relationship and self-journey.
Diane I am so proud of you for staying with it, and being so lucid in sharing your process. Having been so there myself, and so deeply trying everything I knew to keep the process going, without success - you really inspired me with your flexibility and fierce determination. You practiced and activated such awesome solutions, brought out by love and skill. I look forward to meeting you one of these days! AND it did seem there was a deep "soul" connection that kept you both coming back for more.
Any individual or couple could benefit from this book. It is a great introduction and guide, in terms anyone can understand, to moving into awakened relationship, which as you said at the end, Landon, is truly the "fast track" to enlightenment. When we clear our layers of old stuff and stand in pure love, it opens the doors to our highest self-expression. Taking self-responsibility for our upsets is such a valid concept, though sometimes quite a leap to grasp. You portray this so well in the book, and the struggles you each went through to access it. (Believe me I have been there!) As you say in the book, "the Law of Attraction states, 'we will always draw to us that which is in vibrational harmony with our own vibration;'" and in essence love will hold the space to heal our deepest wounds.
By the two of you sharing your journey in this way it certainly will move through the collective, with a wave of awakened loving. I am so excited to look forward to the possibility of sharing this in my life with the right partner, and encouraged by your story that it can be made real by two who choose to "go the distance" together...principles reviewed at the end are soooooo helpful!

I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. I had begun to seriously question my ability to choose wisely in a partner. After reading this book, I have a glimmer of hope. It is amazing to read about the deep abiding love and the courage to face the deepest fears in herself and her partner. Such determination, clarity, and vision, even in her darkest hours. Diane is a teacher by example and in fact now teaching a course. I am buying books for all the women I know who have these same questions. It gets you thinking in ways you never have!
Well done Diane and Landon, for your honesty, courage and your perseverance. And thanks for sharing with a view of teaching others.
While I see that such a book is applicable to all relationships, I believe it gives an uncommon insight into the different thought processes governing the emotions and priorities of men and women. Women (read I !!) often just don't get this. Alternating writing styles and versions of events poignantly highlight the dignity and worth of each point of view. This keenly deepened my personal grasp of the need for empathetic listening.
Secondly, the book shows a developing relationship between previously married people of mature age. Such a different dynamic with a wealth of diverse life experience under each belt, the scars of past hurts and the more complex expectations. And of course a greater capacity for depth and meaning in marriage.
I read it in one sitting, needed to re read several passages. A truly original read.
When I heard the title, I quickly and hopefully purchased Falling in Love Backwards thinking there might be something in it that could help me be a better person and get some real insight on relationships. Not only is the story delightful, humbling and brave; it reveals a strategy for developing patience and communication to deepen any relationship. Naturally we want partners that are all-in right away, but how many times are those quick impulses revealed to lack depth and lack of strength when it comes to maintaining real long-term attraction?
In this modern love-story, both Landon and Diane fight their old experiences and expectations of what 'normal' might look like to open their minds and reveal their vulnerability so they can create an unbreakable bond. I can't imagine this book not being useful to anyone who wants to build a deep and meaningful relationship. It provides great insight on how people approach relationships differently and how, with patience and understanding how willing people can meet on common ground. The book gave me insight on some of my own behaviors and old beliefs as well as revealed some in people I know. It's been fun to read sections out loud and see what the response is. It certainly promotes a mindful approach to building a solid foundation for your ultimate relationship.

Landon and (ESPECIALLY) Diane--I have just completed reading "Falling in Love Backwards"....What an exquisitely lovely gift you have shared with authenticity and transparency.....offering me inspiration and courage.
There is SO much in your story that echoes a current relationships in my life--different circumstances, but oh, such similar patterns and challenges. Many times, I have found myself wanting to cut the emotional cords between us. Except Spirit seems to have different plans.
At several points, I have feared that perhaps we were bringing out the worst in each other. Your mutual stories help me see that instead we bring out our own woundedness in the other....and can then choose whether to re-wound or to offer a healing space for wholeness.
I look forward to reading "The Awakened Relationship" handbook.
